Book Markdown Project

I'm starting to catalog all the books I've read — along with ratings, dates, and other useful metadata — directly into NotePlan. This gives me a central, searchable reference I can use across all my devices.

🔍 What I’m Tracking

Each book entry in NotePlan includes:

  • Title
  • Author
  • My Rating (⭐️ to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
  • Status (Unread, Reading, Finished, Wishlist)
  • Date Read
  • Number of Pages
  • Tags (e.g., fiction, non-fiction, biography, etc.)
  • Notes or Highlights

The number of pages helps when I want to grab a quick weekend read, and status tags work perfectly with NotePlan’s Kanban board feature to visually organize:

  • Books I haven’t read yet
  • Books on my wishlist
  • Favorites I’d gladly read again

Web App in Development

I’m currently building a small web app to streamline this process. It:

  • Lets me input book details
  • Automatically formats the data into NotePlan-compatible Markdown
  • Syncs directly into my Library folder in NotePlan

This is a work in progress, but the goal is to make it fast, simple, and reliable — whether I’m adding a new title from my laptop or on the go from my phone.

Let me know what you think. Feedback and feature ideas are always welcome!
